Our Journey

EVERY PEAK HAS A STORY, EVERY TRAILS LEADS TO HOME

About Us

Road to Himalaya  is a France based  travel and cultural enterprise dedicated to build a meaningful bridge between Nepal and France. Rooted in more than five years of professional experience in Nepal’s tourism sector, our mission is to offer authentic, sustainable, and human-centered travel experiences that connect people with the culture, language, and mountains of Nepal.

Background & Inspiration
Our founder Ujjwal lage is originally from Bhaktapur, Nepal, worked extensively in the trekking, travel, and cultural exploration sector, organizing treks, motorbike trips, hikes , community projects, and cultural immersion programs for international travelers. Following the devastating earthquake in 2015, he shifted his focus to humanitarian work with an NGO. There, he deepened his network with travelers from around the world, creating bonds of trust and exchange that later inspired the creation of this company.

This journey transformed a professional career into a meaningful mission: to bring together travelers, cultures, and communities across borders, and to share the richness of Nepal with those seeking more than just tourism.

Our Mission

Our mission is simple: create amazing Himalayan adventures that protect the mountains and help local communities thrive. We want to show that travel can make a positive difference. Every trek we organize helps mountain families earn a living while keeping the wilderness beautiful and untouched. We believe adventure and responsibility go hand in hand. When you travel with us, you’re not just seeing the Himalayas, you’re helping protect them for future generations.

Zero Plastic, Zero Waste

We’ve completely banned single-use plastics on all our treks. Every traveler gets a reusable water bottle, and we use refillable containers for everything. We carry out every piece of trash we bring in—and often pick up litter left by others along the way.

Reuse and Recycle Everything
Why buy new when old works perfectly? We repair and reuse tents, sleeping bags, and camping gear for as long as possible. When equipment can’t be fixed, we recycle materials or donate them to local communities. This reduces waste and keeps perfectly good gear out of landfills.

Low Carbon Footprint
We minimize our carbon impact by choosing trails that don’t require unnecessary vehicle transport, supporting local food sources to reduce shipping emissions, and encouraging travelers to offset their flight emissions. Small steps make a big difference.

Community-Powered Tourism
We hire local guides, porters, and cooks from mountain villages. We buy supplies from local shops and stay in family-run guesthouses. This means your money directly supports the people who call the Himalayas home.

Protecting Mountain Ecosystems
We limit group sizes to reduce trail erosion and wildlife disturbance. We stick to established paths to protect fragile alpine plants. We educate travelers about respecting wildlife and maintaining safe distances. The mountains are home to rare species, and we’re committed to keeping it that way.

Sharing Stories, Building Bridges
Travel is about more than just stunning views—it’s about human connection. We create opportunities for genuine exchanges between travelers and local families. Share meals, learn traditional crafts, hear ancient stories, and understand what life is really like in mountain communities. These authentic experiences create lasting friendships and mutual respect.

When you journey with Road to Himalaya, you become part of something bigger—a movement to protect the world’s most beautiful mountains while ensuring the people who live there can prosper. Adventure with purpose. That’s our promise.
